Sometimes your purpose is to be the steady one in a family full of noise.

Not every role is a visible one. In a loud household somebody ends up being the person who does not escalate, remembers the appointments, and stays reachable when everyone else is mid-crisis. It is not glamorous and it is rarely thanked, partly because it works. A family with one steady member runs very differently from one with none.

If that is your position, acknowledge that it is actual work and costs you something. Then make sure somebody outside the house knows how you are, because steady people get asked least. Being reliable does not mean being unlimited.
