Some of the rules you hated at fourteen you’ll quietly enforce on yourself at twenty-four.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

External structure has a way of becoming internal. The curfew, the no-phones rule, the thing about going to bed before midnight all felt like somebody exercising authority for its own sake, and most of them were addressing a real problem that you will eventually run into on your own terms. At twenty-four you will reinstate several of them voluntarily and call it discipline.

Pick one rule you resent and try keeping it as your own decision for two weeks. Watch what it actually does rather than how it feels to be told.
