The person who checks on your grandma when you can’t is carrying a piece of your family. Thank them.

Care gets shared out whether anyone plans it or not. While you are at school or at practice, somebody else is knocking on a door, bringing in the mail, sitting for twenty minutes. That work shows up nowhere, and it is holding up something you love. Distance does not mean you stopped caring; it means someone covered the part you could not reach.
Find out who that person is by name. Send a short message, or ask your family for the number and call once. Saying that you know what they do for her, and that you notice, is the whole message.
