The body is not scenery surrounding the mind.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
It is easy to live as though you are a mind being transported by an inconvenient vehicle. Mood, patience, attention, and clarity all move with sleep, movement, and food, which means the thinking you are so proud of is downstream of the body you are ignoring. There is no clean line between the two. What you feel about your life on a given day is partly a physical report.
Before you trust a bleak conclusion about your work or your relationships, check the last few nights of sleep and the last few meals. Some conclusions dissolve after rest. Fix the physical variable first, then see whether the thought still holds.
When do you treat your body as an obstacle to your plans?
