Be the new kid twice in three years and you get good at beginnings and wary of attachment. Attach anyway.

Moving twice teaches you two things at once, and only one of them is useful. You get genuinely good at walking into rooms, learning names, finding the group, surviving week one. The other lesson is to hold back slightly, to keep a hand on the door, because last time it ended. That instinct protects you from a loss you have already had and costs you the thing that was worth having.
If that is where you are, you do not have to fix the feeling to act past it. Pick one person and go slightly further than feels safe: make the plan, send the message, tell them something true.
What has moving around taught you to hold back?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
