Relatives will say “you got so big” for years. Let people be surprised you changed. It means you did.

Being noticed as different can feel like being treated as a child, especially when the comment is clumsy. Underneath it is a plain fact: somebody who sees you twice a year is comparing two snapshots and finding them genuinely far apart. The people who see you daily are the worst placed to notice movement.

Take the remark as a measurement rather than a judgement. When somebody is surprised by you, ask them what looks different; they often say something you cannot see yourself. Keep it, because your own eyes will tell you nothing has changed.
