Start a hobby at twenty-five and you might be the oldest beginner in the class. Someone has to be.

Every beginner class has an oldest person in it, and the fact that it might be you says nothing except that you arrived. The discomfort is about being watched, which is mostly imagined; the others are busy being bad at it themselves. What you are weighing is a few awkward weeks against years of being able to do something.
Join the class rather than waiting for a version of it with people your age. Tell the teacher you are new so the pace starts in the right place. Give it six sessions before you decide anything about whether you belong there.
Would you still start if you were the oldest one there?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
