A friendship can end without either person becoming a villain.

GRATITUDE
Endings do not require a wrongdoer. People change at different rates, move, marry, get busy, become different enough that the thing no longer holds, and the mind still wants a reason with a name in it. Manufacturing a grievance to explain a drift is a common way to make an ordinary ending legible. It also poisons a good history unnecessarily.
If a friendship has faded, resist the urge to assign fault to make it make sense. You can let it be over and still be glad it happened. That version leaves the door open in a way blame does not.
