Giving someone a second chance is leadership. Giving them a fifth without a conversation is avoidance.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
A second chance is generous because it arrives with an understanding that something went wrong. Handing over a fifth without ever having said anything is a different act, usually a way of dodging five uncomfortable minutes, and it leaves the person with no idea they are running out of room. That is not kindness, it is a bill that arrives all at once later.
If you have been quietly tolerating something, have the short conversation now and say clearly what needs to change. Keep giving chances afterward if you want to. Just make sure they know this is one.
Have you excused the same problem one time too many?
