When a dancer gets hurt mid-rehearsal, the leader stops the run. No formation matters more than the person in it.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Momentum makes it tempting to finish the run and deal with it after, especially when the group is finally getting something right. Stopping at once says plainly where people sit in your order of priorities, and that answer is remembered long after the routine is forgotten. Nobody performs well for somebody they suspect would let them carry on hurt. The pause costs you ten minutes.

If somebody goes down this week, stop everything and go to them first. Ask what hurts rather than whether they can keep going. Pick the rehearsal back up only once they are properly looked after.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Would you halt something important the moment a person needed help?
