Agreement is pleasant, and pleasure is easy to mistake for recognising the truth. Something written to confirm what you already think slides past you quickly because it asks nothing of you, and that smooth passage is the warning. The feeling of being sharp is cheap to produce and often produced deliberately.

Treat your own nodding as a prompt to slow down for ten seconds. Ask who made the claim and what would have to be true for it to hold. Check the ones you like best, since those are the ones you will otherwise repeat.
