Try being a total beginner at something every few years. It keeps you patient with people who are still learning.

Competence is comfortable and slowly makes you worse at imagining what not knowing is like. You forget which parts were confusing, how long the basics took, and how much of what you now do automatically once needed your full attention. Being bad at something new restores that memory quickly. It also makes you considerably easier to teach.
Take up something this term where you are visibly the worst in the room. A language, a sport, an instrument. Then watch how you talk to the next person who is slow at something you find easy.
When were you last genuinely bad at something new?
