Leadership is mostly logistics and kindness: who’s driving, who’s eaten, who got left out.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Leading a group turns out to be unglamorous in practice. It is mostly arranging transport, checking that people have eaten, noticing who has gone quiet and making sure the new person has somebody to sit with, and almost none of it resembles the speeches in films. It works because those details are what people actually experience of being in a group.

Take one of those jobs this week without being appointed to it. Sort the lift, bring food, ask the person on the edge to come along.
