An influencer’s room looks spotless because the camera points at the one clean corner.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
A frame is a choice about what to exclude. One tidy corner, good light and a camera pointed carefully away from the rest is all it takes, and the room behind the phone looks like anybody’s room, because it is. Nothing in the picture is fake; what is missing is everything outside the edges.
Two things help. When a space or a life looks impossibly sorted, picture the ten feet to the left of it, which is usually where the laundry is. And notice when you do it yourself, cropping your own week for other people, because that gap is where most of the comparison misery comes from.
What stays outside the frame of the photos you post?
