Some people need opportunity more than rescue.

LEADERSHIP
Rescue assumes incapacity. Opportunity assumes competence and supplies what was missing, which is usually access rather than ability. Many people do not need to be carried; they need one door held open and then they are entirely fine without you.
Before stepping in, ask which situation you are in. If someone is capable and simply locked out, the useful move is an introduction, a recommendation, a chance. That respects them more and works better, and it costs you considerably less.
Whom could you open a door for instead of carrying?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
