Some generosity consists of making room instead of taking space.

Some of the best things you can do involve subtraction. Not taking the credit, not filling the silence, not answering first, stepping back so somebody else has the chance. Making room is invisible by design and it is the reason certain people are able to grow around you.

In your next meeting or conversation, stay quiet once when you would normally speak and see who comes forward. Do it deliberately for a while. You will find out quickly who has been waiting for space that was never available.
