Eating lunch alone in your car on break isn’t sad. For some people it’s the only quiet hour they get all day.

Alone does not automatically mean lonely, and from outside the two look the same. If your day is spent on your feet talking to strangers, half an hour where nobody needs anything is repair rather than isolation. The people who do it usually come back in pleasant for the rest of the shift.

If you have found a break like that, protect it and do not explain it to anybody. Say you are taking your lunch and go. If you notice somebody else doing it, let them, since they are refuelling rather than hiding.
