Keep the friends who let you be terrible at something new without pulling out their phone to record it.

Safety to be bad at things is rarer than it should be. Learning anything in public means a stretch of looking stupid, and the friend who watches that without filming it, mocking it or storing it for later is giving you the room to go through the embarrassing part, which is the only route to being any good. People who record it make trying more expensive, and that cost comes out of your future skills.

Notice who you are willing to be clumsy around and spend more time there. Then be that person for somebody else this week. Put the phone away and let them be awful at it.
