Memories can shift a little every time you replay them. Be careful how sure you are about who started it.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Every time you go back over something, you are rebuilding it rather than reading it, and small changes settle in: a sharper tone, a clearer motive, a slightly later start to your own part. After a dozen replays you have a version that is smooth, vivid and partly made. Confidence grows with repetition even as accuracy drifts. The fights you have retold most are the ones to trust least.
When you catch yourself certain about who started it, admit you are not sure of the order. Then ask whoever was there, while it is recent. If it is years old, let it stay unresolved rather than solid.
How certain are you about who actually started that old argument?
