An institution reveals its priorities through which mistakes are easy to correct.

LEADERSHIP
You can learn what an organisation values by seeing which errors get fixed quickly. When money is billed incorrectly to the institution it is corrected within days, and when it is billed incorrectly to a person it takes months. That asymmetry is not written in any statement of values, and it describes them accurately. Speed of correction is a confession.
In any place you deal with regularly, notice which mistakes are easy to reverse and which require a campaign. If you have any authority, make the errors that hurt people outside the building the fastest ones to undo. It is a small change to a process and a large change to what the place actually is.
