The animal called invasive did not invent the shipping route that brought it.

REFLECTION
A species carried across an ocean did not choose the crossing. It arrived in a ballast tank or a shipment, filled an opening it found, and became a problem defined largely by our arrangements. Calling it invasive puts the agency somewhere it does not sit, which quietly relocates responsibility away from the route and onto the traveller.
The pattern repeats wherever the language of blame attaches to whoever arrived last. It is worth checking who built the conditions before deciding who is at fault for filling them. Managing the consequences may still be necessary, and it is a different matter from moral accounting, which so often lands on whatever cannot answer back.
Whom do you blame for a situation someone else set up?
