A spectator can mistake access to the replay for the judgment available in the moment.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Watching a replay is not the same as deciding in the moment. The viewer has stopped time, changed the angle, and removed the pressure, and then judges someone who had none of that. The confidence of the judgement comes almost entirely from advantages the person being judged did not have.
Bring this to any assessment of a past decision, including your own. Ask what was actually available at the time, in the time available. Hindsight makes everything look obvious, which is why reviewing decisions by their outcomes teaches you so little. The useful question is whether the reasoning was sound with what was in the room.
Whose decision have you judged with information they did not have?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
