The person leaving a demanding role may need time before ambition sounds enjoyable again.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
A long stretch of pressure leaves something flat behind it. When the demands stop, many people expect relief and find instead that nothing appeals, including the things they used to want, and they read that as a worrying loss of drive. Usually it is depletion rather than damage. Wanting things is an appetite, and appetite returns slowly after a period of running on obligation.
Give it more time than seems reasonable before deciding what you are now, and be wary of large commitments made in the flat weeks. Do small things that ask nothing of you. Ambition tends to come back quietly, as mild curiosity about something.
What have you not wanted since the last exhausting season?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
