The work of settling in includes finding where you can ask an ordinary question comfortably.

Arriving somewhere new is rarely defeated by the large tasks. It is the small ones that wear you down: where the forms live, whether that meeting is optional, which door is unlocked on weekends. Without a person you can ask without cost, those questions accumulate into guesswork, and guesswork is what makes a new place feel unsteady long after the boxes are unpacked.
Pick one person who seems unbothered by interruption and ask them something genuinely small this week. The point is less the answer than establishing that asking is allowed. If you are already settled somewhere, make yourself that person for whoever arrived last.
Who did you first feel safe asking a basic question?
