A captain’s influence shows in how the team treats the player who made the mistake.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Leadership in a group is measured after something goes wrong, not while things are going well. The seconds following an error decide what everyone learns: whether the person is approached or avoided, whether the next risk gets taken, whether anyone admits the next mistake early. A captain sets that by what they do first, and everyone copies it within moments.
If you hold any informal authority, get to the person who erred before anyone else does. Say something ordinary and keep them in the play. The group will follow your lead more than you expect.
