The lesson should offer a first step before it asks for confidence.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Confidence is a result, not an entry requirement. When something opens by asking you to believe you can do it, the cautious are filtered out before anything has been tried, and the belief has nothing to rest on anyway. A first step does the work in the opposite order. You do the small thing, it goes tolerably, and the confidence arrives afterward as evidence.

If you are learning something, look for the smallest action available rather than waiting to feel ready. If you are teaching, open with a doable move instead of encouragement. Let the reassurance come from what happened rather than from what was promised.
