A lesson becomes usable when you know where it fits into an ordinary attempt.

CREATIVITY
Knowledge without a placement stays inert. You can hold a technique perfectly well and still never reach for it, because nothing tells you which moment it belongs to, and the moment passes while you are busy doing the thing itself. Usable learning includes the cue. It answers when as clearly as it answers how.
After the next thing you learn, describe the specific situation where it applies in one sentence. Say what you will be seeing or feeling just before it is needed. Then use it deliberately in one ordinary attempt, even clumsily, so the cue gets attached.
What advice have you collected without knowing when to actually use it?
