The object you stop shopping for may give back more attention than buying it ever would.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Wanting something takes up room continuously, in a way that owning it does not. The tabs, the comparisons, the checking whether the price has moved: all of it runs quietly in the background for weeks. Buying ends that, and so does deciding firmly against it, which is worth knowing, because only one of those costs money. The relief was never in the object.

Pick one thing you have been half-shopping for and close the question this week by deciding no. Delete the tabs, leave the list. Notice how much attention comes back, and whether the wanting was doing something other than wanting.
