A fallen branch can reveal how much shelter you had stopped noticing.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Shelter is invisible while it is working. You do not notice the branch until the light changes and the wind reaches the window, and only then is it clear that something had been standing between you and the weather. The same holds for people and arrangements: a colleague who absorbed things, a routine that held a week together. Their work shows up in the shape of their absence.

Look for what is currently sheltering you before you have to find out that way. Then say so, plainly, to whoever is doing it. Being told while still doing the job is worth more than thanks afterwards.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What kept you sheltered until the day it came down?
