A lifeguard’s ordinary alertness makes other people’s relaxation possible.

Ease in a place is usually manufactured by somebody’s continuous attention. The relaxation of thirty people rests on one person not relaxing at all, and the transfer is invisible by design, since noticing it would spoil the effect it produces. Every calm room has someone in it who is not calm. Often several.
Notice whose alertness you have been enjoying this week, at work, at home, on a night out. Say something to them about it, and take a turn where you can. Watching is far easier when it rotates and when somebody has said they know you are doing it.
Whose ease depends on attention you rarely get thanked for?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
