A person who respects themselves does not need every opportunity badly enough to compromise.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Needing something too much removes your ability to hold terms. The job you must have, the deal you cannot lose, the relationship you cannot risk: each one hands the other side the ability to set conditions, and self-respect gets spent in small increments to protect the thing.
Watch for the point where you start explaining away terms you would have refused earlier. That is usually the signal. Reducing the need itself is the real remedy, which means building alternatives, savings, and other options. What that actually buys you is the ability to say no, which is what makes any of the yeses meaningful.
Which opportunity would you turn down to keep your self-respect?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
