The person who pauses on a difficult day may hear more than the tune was asked to carry.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Music does not know what you brought to it. A piece played casually in a station or a shop meets somebody who has just had bad news, and it does work the performer never intended and will never hear about. What arrives is partly the tune and mostly the state of the person receiving it. That is why a small thing can undo you on one day and pass unnoticed on another.

If something ordinary moves you more than it should, let it, without explaining it away. And be careful about judging anyone else’s reaction, since you cannot see what day they are having.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What ordinary thing reached you exactly when your day was hard?
