A job title can grow faster than the permission to make useful decisions.

LEADERSHIP
Titles are cheap to award and authority is not. Someone can be given a grander name, more responsibility and the same inability to approve anything, which leaves them accountable for outcomes they cannot actually shape. The mismatch is often not deliberate. Naming costs nothing, while genuinely handing over decisions requires someone else to let go of them.
If you have been promoted lately, list the three decisions you would need to make alone for the role to work, and ask directly for those. If you promote people, give the permissions on the same day as the title.
Where does your title promise authority you do not actually have?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
