Become ruthless with waste and generous with people.

The instinct to be hard on something is useful, and the question is where you point it. Aimed at waste, at pointless meetings, at processes that produce nothing, at your own dithering, it makes everything cleaner. Aimed at people it produces fear, which generates more waste as everyone starts protecting themselves. The same firmness works well in one direction and badly in the other.
Go through your week and cut something wasteful without hesitation. Then look at how you have been speaking to whoever is involved in it. Being generous with the people while ruthless with the process usually gets you both the change and the cooperation.
Where are you strict with people and lenient with waste?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
