Practice the recovery, not only the perfect execution.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Most practice assumes things go well, which leaves you fluent at success and helpless at recovery. But almost every real attempt includes a wobble, and what separates outcomes is usually how quickly you regain your footing rather than whether you slipped. Rehearsing only the clean version leaves out the part you will actually need.

Deliberately introduce a mistake into your next practice and work through the recovery: lose your place, get interrupted, drop a step. Learn what it feels like to continue from a bad position. The confidence that comes from knowing you can recover is different in kind from the confidence of hoping nothing goes wrong.
