A parent being sick is not your fault and not your job to fix. Your job is to keep being their kid.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

When someone you depend on becomes the one who needs help, it is natural to start carrying responsibilities that were never yours. Illness does not arrive because of anything you did, and it does not hand you the job of curing it. What they usually need most is the relationship, not a second caregiver made out of a child.

Help in the ways that fit you, a ride, a meal, sitting in the room. Let the adults handle the parts that belong to adults, and say so if too much is landing on you. Keep some of your own life going.
