A failed strategy can leave the person stronger than the strategy deserved.

Sometimes the plan was wrong and you still came out better: more capable, more honest, more able to judge what matters. The strategy failed on its own terms while doing something valuable to the person executing it. That outcome does not appear on any scoreboard.

After something falls apart, take stock of how you changed rather than only what you achieved. Ask whether you would trade back the growth. Often you would not, even though the result was bad.
