Going to the club meeting alone is terrifying for exactly one meeting.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The fear of walking in alone is almost entirely front loaded. It peaks at the door and is mostly gone twenty minutes later, because the room turns out to be a handful of people who are also slightly unsure and glad somebody new came. The dread was for a version of the room that does not exist.

Go once and let the first meeting be as awkward as it is going to be. You only ever have to do that one. If it turns out not to be for you, you have lost an hour and learned something real.
