You can be proud of your progress and honest about your problems in the same breath.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Progress and problems are not competing claims, and you do not have to pick one to be the truth. People tend to flip between the two, either running a highlight reel or writing themselves off entirely. Both versions are edits. Holding them together is more accurate and, oddly, less exhausting than defending either one.

Say both out loud this week to someone you trust: here is what is working, here is what is still a mess. Notice that the honest half does not cancel the proud half. Keep the sentence structure for when you talk to yourself.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What are you proud of and still working on simultaneously?
