Good coaches keep talking in your head for decades after the season ends.

A person who taught you well becomes an internal voice you consult without noticing. Their phrasing turns up while you are deciding something, often about a subject they never mentioned, and it keeps working long after you have lost touch. That is the real shape of good teaching, not the season it happened in.

Work out whose voice you are still hearing and what it actually says. If it is useful, thank them if you can, since almost nobody does. And when you teach anyone, remember that the phrasing is the part that travels.
