The jersey you hand down to your little brother carries more than a number. It carries how you wore it.

LEADERSHIP
What gets passed down is never only the object. A younger sibling inherits the reputation attached to it, the expectations of everyone who remembers you in it, and their own picture of how you behaved. All of that arrives with the thing, whether or not anybody mentions it out loud.
Be aware that the standard you set becomes the one they walk into. Make it a decent one, and then tell them directly that they do not have to be you. Handing over permission to be different is part of handing anything down properly.
What are you handing down to someone younger without noticing?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
