Getting back on after a fall doesn’t erase the fear. It teaches the fear who’s in charge.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Courage is not the absence of the shake in your hands. Going back with your pulse still going is how you learn that fear can ride along without steering, which is a different lesson than becoming unafraid. The fear hangs around for a while and slowly stops making your decisions for you.

If something threw you recently, go back to it sooner rather than later, and make the first return small on purpose. Walk the horse, take the easy line, run the drill at half speed. You are not proving you are fearless, only that fear is no longer the one choosing.
