Cringing at your old captions is a receipt. Somebody in there developed taste.

Cringe is a measurement, not a verdict. The squirm happens because there is now a distance between the person who wrote that and the person reading it, and you can only feel that distance if you moved. Somebody in those old posts was figuring out what was good, and that figuring out is what produced the taste you are now judging them with.

So leave most of it up rather than deleting the evidence. When you catch yourself wincing, name the specific thing you would do differently now. That sentence is a better record of a year than anything you could post on purpose.
