A community grows more welcoming when belonging is not tested through unspoken knowledge.

Every group accumulates knowledge that was never written down: where people actually sit, what the third meeting is really for, which suggestions are quietly off limits. Members stop noticing they know these things, so the information never gets said, and newcomers keep discovering it by making small mistakes in public. Nobody set out to build a test. The effect is a test all the same.
Write down the things everyone assumes, and hand them to new people before they need them. Say the unwritten rules out loud in the first week. When someone gets one wrong, treat it as a gap in what you told them.
What unspoken rule does your group use to sort people?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
