The cost of boldness is often temporary discomfort; the cost of avoidance can become identity.

RESILIENCE
Boldness costs discomfort, usually for a defined period. Avoidance costs something less obvious: repeated often enough, it stops being a set of choices and becomes a description of who you are, at which point changing it is a much larger project than any single act of nerve would have been.
Look at a pattern of avoidance you have kept up for years and consider how it has shaped your self-description. Then take one action against it, sized so it is survivable. The point is less the outcome than interrupting the story, before the story finishes hardening into a fact about you.
What avoidance of yours has started to feel like who you are?
